Hi all,

Well I finally picked up a 4 seater to get the family out on the trails with me. It's a 2014 Maverick Max X Rs with about 800 miles. I have 3 issues that need addressing.

1. The belt engagement is very jerky. If I am light on the throttle it jerks the UTV until complete engagement. Makes it hard to maneuver in tight spots. The previous owner said he took it to the dealer and they claimed it was normal??

2. The dash says I'm in H when I shift it in Low. Low functions just fine but its a little annoying.

3. The starting seems weak. I put a charge on the battery overnight but when I first try to start it, it cranks slowly at first then it will start. Bad battery??

and most importantly.

4. Today on my first ride after the day was almost over the DPS stopped working. I looked and the dash was saying "Check DPS" and the Engine icon was flashing. After getting home after it was sitting about an hour on the trailer the DPS was working.

The Maverick has a little left on the extended warranty so if needed I can bring it into the dealer. I would like to get some advice first if possible.

I think I figured out the jerky start. I read that it is probably because the previous owner didn't break in the belt and it is it hour glass shaped. Makes sense to me.

The jerky is from a burned belt. Change it out and the problem will be gone. Not a warranty item.
It is possible that the PO installed a sport low mod. The display will show H when in low and you will get full power unlike stock where the power is reduced in low range.

That is very interesting. I will have to check my battery. Like I said it was not starting well. Thanks!

Thank you. Is there any way to check if it is installed? I have heard of the mod and that would be cool if is on there already.

If it stays in sport mode when shifted into low it has it. Also if it revs to + 6000 rpm etc.

Thank you. I'll look for the rpm the next time I have it out.

Thanks for everyone's help. I wanted to report back that after getting a good charge on the battery, I have not had any issues with the power steering! Additionally, I found out it does have the sport low as well.

Thanks again.
